Ever wonder if you spent too much on a computer, in some cases maybe not enough? Most of the time when you go to a retail store to buy a computer the sales associates may not even know the first thing about the components. They may not understand the system requirements for your needs. I have actually worked in the sales environment for a few top electronic retail stores. I have to say I had some really good laughs watching the sales training videos.

We are not a retail store, but we have been recommending laptops, desktops and tablets that we like to our customers for years. On top of that buying from the same vendors for many years has allowed us to get computers cheaper than retail stores. Are main goal is to make sure you get the best computer to fit your needs for your money. A lot of consumers believe the more you spend the better the computer will be. This is not always the case. In fact some manufactures prey on what people don’t fully understand about technology. This is one of the many reasons why we started OBCR in the first place!

In 2007 OBCR started building custom built desktops under the name Shadow/PC more info here. The idea started when customers asked about high end gaming computers. I have always built my own computers starting with my first in 1999. At around half of the cost that manufactures charge for their “gaming” machines, and using the best parts on the market. Of course all my friends wanted me to build the their dream machines. Shadow/PC was born!

It can be overwhelming shopping for a new Mac or PC. There are so many options to choose from. I can understand how people feel when I shop for something I don’t know that much about. I really appreciate when someone that knows and cares helps me and I am glad that we can return the favor!
